Development Planned Near Future Purple Line

Project a mix of homes and businesses

Officials in Montgomery County have announced plans for a mixed-use development near the future Metro Purple Line, the Associated Press reported.

The project will be on a one-acre site at Fenton and Bonifant streets in Silver Spring, near a planned rail station.

The location is also near the new Silver Spring library which is set to open in 2014.

The project will include mixed-income residential units and commercial space, according to Montgomery County spokeswoman Mary Anderson.

It'll be built by Donohue Companies and the Montgomery Housing Partnership, officials said.

Trains could start running on the Purple Line in 2016.
