Eat, Drink and Be Merry! It's for the Children

Gourmet Gala benefits St. Jude's. And you get to eat. A lot.

MSNBC’s Norah O’Donnell is serving as MC for the 11th annual Gourmet Gala: Mardi Gras for the Kids! on Tuesday, Feb. 17 at the National Building Museum.

Yeah, ticket prices are steep ($350), but the proceeds benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital -- and you get to gobble up food and drink from DC restos that include Indebleu, Cafe Atlantico, Ten Penh and Equinox.

The Web site claims there will also be "mingling with more than 800 business, financial and political leaders" and a silent auction. We're sure that's, um, exciting and all, but please don't let these people distract you from eating cupcakes from CakeLove or dipping teeny pieces of fruit into melted cheese, courtesy of Melting Pot. Remember, you are there for the FOOD. Well, and the children.

During the past 10 years, the Gourmet Gala has raised more than $2 million for St. Jude and has helped support various programs including gene therapy, bone marrow transplants, immunology and AIDS vaccine research.
