Valentine's at Vermilion for First Couple

President takes first lady to Alexandria for dinner

Reston may be for romance, according to foursquare, but that No. 6 ranking on the list of the most romantic places in the country had many in Alexandria wondering, What about Old Town? Well, the president’s on their side.

President Barack Obama took the first lady to the heart of Old Town on Valentine’s Day for dinner at Vermilion.

“Do not forget!” he warned earlier Tuesday, suggesting that he himself could have used a reminder at some point in his relationship with his wife of 19 years, Michelle. “I speak from experience here.”

Prior to remarks about the benefits of a payroll tax cut, Obama advised men to “go big” Tuesday, the Associated Press reported.

No word on how big Obama went other than dinner and a personal greeting on Twitter Tuesday afternoon: “Hey, @MichelleObama: Happy Valentine's Day. –bo”
