Taste of DC 2011 Returns to Pennsylvania Avenue

Taste of DC, Back at Last
Taste of DC returns to Pennsylvania Avenue this weekend.

Get your buds ready, because this weekend is the Taste of D.C.

The District's fave disappearing food fest -- which had died a slow death after 2003 -- heads back to Pennsylvania Avenue (between 13th and 10th) with booths from 60+ of the area's best eateries.

Festivities kick off at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, and continue through Monday, Oct. 10. Food and drink tickets are 10 for $15, or you can order online and get 20 for $25. Tastings "cost" one to two tickets; entrees are three to five tickets.

While there, you also can vibe and imbibe, courtesy of wine and beer tents, and live musical acts. Performers include Big & Rich feat. Cowboy Troy on Saturday, Styx on Sunday and Rusted Root on Monday. Concert ticekts cost extra.

Be sure to keep an eye out for these D.C. favorites to be featured:

Patty Boom Boom: Known mostly for their popular dance hall, Patty Boom Boom also is renowned for their authentic Jamaican beef patties.

Amsterdam Falafel: You will definitely not feel-awful (see what we did there?) (also, sorry) after this falafel. If you're never had what's widely considered to be the best falafel in D.C., now's your chance.

Whoopsie!: When people think whoopee pies, they rarely think gourmet. These pies will prove you wrong. Cap of your day at Taste of D.C.

Other participating restos include Co. Co. Sala, Local 16 and Ping Pong Dim Sum. See the full list here, and the event map here.
