Sonoma Chef Taking the Helm at Ba Bay

Nick Sharpe Headed to New Vietnamese Spot

Former Sonoma chef Nick Sharpe is headed to new Capitol Hill Vietnamese spot Ba Bay, reports Young and Hungry.

Sharpe and Ba Bay owner Khoa Nguyen go back a long time; they met while working at Vidalia (Sharpe in the kitchen, Nguyen out front). Sharpe has also worked at Mio, Tyson Corner's Maestro, and Fiamma up north in New York City.

Sharpe doesn't have any official experience cooking Vietnamese, but what the heck. Nguyen took Sharpe to a family member's house to learn traditional dishes. How well did Sharpe take to his lessons? Ba Bay hasn't opened yet, so we'll just have to wait and see.

The new spot will be located at 633 Pennsylvania Ave. S.E. -- yep, just a few blocks over from Sonoma.
