It's no longer Peanut Butter Jelly Time: The PBJ-dispensing truck has shut down.

    Imagine that.

As Prince of Petworth reports, the purveyors of the ultimate laziness food posted a note on their Facebook page that reads in part, "There's nothing like unrequited love to drain all the flavor out of a peanut butter sandwich."

Ouch. It wasn't total unrequited love, though.

One commenter, Marty Lederman, wrote: "I expect most people had the same first impression I did -- namely, 'you've got to be kidding; I'm not paying several dollars for PB&J.' But the sandwiches were, of course, much more substantial than that, and among the best values of any food truck around these parts. Great bacon, for one thing."

The truck's Twitter page still has a robust 23,773 followers, but we're guessing not all of them regularly hit the streets for a sammy made with jalapeno jelly.

    Sleep peacefully, PBJ truck.
