Dunkin' Donuts just might give Starbucks a run for its money in the DMV. The coffee shop/bakery has announced that it plans to open 86 new locations in the region.
Now for the bad news: All these new Dunkin' Donut shops full of fresh donuts, breakfast treats and iced coffee won't open all at once. The company hopes to have them all operational by 2020 -- which, yeah, sounds like The Future.
Franchise officials have spent the last year closing development deals. Company officials say this area is a priority for growth.
Dunkin' Donuts already has plenty of stores in the greater D.C. area, but only about six in the city itself. Starbucks' store locator -- in case you're keeping count -- maxes out at 50.
