A local outpost of Osteria Morini is slated to open at The Yards Park, Capital Riverfront planners announced Tuesday.
This will be the first D.C. restaurant for star chef Michael White, who's already at the helm of several NYC-area spots, including Osteria Morini locations in New York and New Jersey. His restaurant group also has a location in Hong Kong.
White was named Best New Chef by Esquire in 2002, and nominated for Best Chef, New York in 2010 and 2011 by the James Beard Foundation. Osteria Morini was ranked in ZAGAT's Top 10 "Best New Restaurants" 2012.
D.C.'s new restaurant-to-be is the first tenant to be announced for the Lumber Shed, "an adaptive reuse component of The Yards," planners say. The 4,250-square-foot spot is slated to open in summer 2013, with expansive river and park views.
