IHOP May Hop Over to Columbia Heights

Franchise "in discussions" to lease space at DC USA

Loaded country hash browns and Rooty Tooty Fresh 'N Fruity may soon be available in Columbia Heights.  Or not.

A broker for the firm handling retail leasing in the DC USA development in Columbia Heights confirmed Monday that an International House of Pancakes franchise is "in discussions" to lease space at the development, The Washington Business Journal reports.

IHOP has also allegedly "signed a letter of intent to go into DC USA," according to Prince of Petworth.

A spokeswoman for the breakfast chain giant, which has 25 franchises in the D.C. area, would neither confirm or deny the news.

She told the Journal that no plans for a DC USA site have been approved on the corporate level, but it is possible a franchisee is pursuing the location.

(Has former President Bill Clinton been moonlighting at IHOP corporate?)

Well, if they do build it, it will be the second IHOP in the District.  And we think people will come.
