Get Caught In A Thaiphoon

5 Ways to Make the City Your Gym
SAN FRANCISCO - MAY 05: A bowl of jasmine rice sits on a counter in the kitchen at Osha Thai Restaurant May 5, 2008 in San Francisco, California. As rice prices continue to climb and some places are limiting the number of bags small businesses can purchase, many Bay Area restaurants are being forced to raise menu prices and stockpile bags. With locations in both Dupont Circle and Pentagon City, Thaiphoon restaurants are sweeping people off their feet left and right, sending them into a whirlwind of sweet and spice.

Upon entering the restaurant, you will be dazzled with brilliant shades of green, orange and yellow surrounding the inviting booths and contemporary décor. Upon getting situated and opening a menu, the astonishingly affordable entrees will dazzle you as well, with an average range between $11 and $20.

So far, the price and the scenery have earned an A+. Next task is to put the food to the test. The menu is a diverse compilation of traditional Thai dishes, such as the ever-popular pad thai, and other less ordinary dishes, such as the honey-roasted duck tossed with ginger and chili paste. I recommend the drunken noodle with beef, which is the perfect blend of sweet and spicy as well as being served in the perfect amount… not too little, not too much.

With the serving size of the entrée being just right, there definitely will be room for dessert. Sampling the mango sorbet and fried banana split is a definitely necessary to top your meal. The service at Thaiphoon is also excellent and may perhaps be one of the many reasons the wait for a table at this ideal restaurant is long.

If you’re feeling adventurous and would like to take a leap into a natural wonder, be sure to make reservations first.
