Free Ice Cream for Your Hellish Commute

Cold Stone and Make-A-Wish come together for a good cause

Free ice cream? Sure, the weather is enough to make even the most dedicated employee call in sick, but if there were ever a reason to brave a torrential downpour, this is it.

The fact that it is for charity makes the unintentional shower that much more worth it.

Cold Stone Creamery is teaming up with the Make-A-Wish Foundation for their annual World’s Largest Ice Cream Social. From 5 to 8 p.m. today at Cold Stones across the country, patrons are welcome to taste free ice cream and encouraged to make a donation.

Eleven-year-old Kate Rawley, as part of the Make-A-Wish Foundation, created the flavor being given away today. "Kate’s Creation" tops Caramel Apple Pie ice cream with chocolate shavings, graham cracker pie crust and apple pie filling. The flavor seems perfectly timed. Nothing exemplifies to transition from summer to fall more than ice cream that evokes autumn’s favorite desert.

Donations will go to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, so take a detour on your commute home. Let’s be honest, traffic in this weather will probably be insufferable anyway.
