Food Network Smackdown in Nats Park

Nats Park chef vs. "Food Network" finalist

Last time we ate CrackerJacks, we accidentally inhaled the prize from the box. We are SO not gonna make THAT mistake again.

Nats Park -- which happens to be on its third food vendor in as many years -- is hosting a dearly needed foodie event Sunday. The Food Network will stage a grill-off between two local chefs.

It'll be Phil Bucco (head chef for Levy Restaurants, the parks' latest food vendor) versus Teddy Folkman, a recently ousted competitor from TV's "The Next Food Network Star." He also happens to be exec chef at Granville Moore’s Gastropub (1238 H St. N.E.).

Sunday's challenge starts at noon, just before the Nats' game against the Chicago Cubs. The chefs will each have 45 minutes to grill up the goods -- but of course, they won't know anything about their ingredients until competition kickoff.

Washington Post food editor Joe Yonan, WTTG sports anchor Dave Ross, and two randomly selected Nats fans will judge.

Seating will be available for just 30 people on a first-come, first-serve basis. Hint: Head to the Nats Family Fun Area the second the Center Field Gates open at 11 a.m.

The challenge will (of course) be filmed, but there's no word yet on when the segment will air.
