Hula on over to Luau in the Lot this Saturday, June 6, from 1-9 p.m. Sponsored by local favorites Gossip on 23rd, Tortoise & Hare, Urban Thai and Freddie's Beach Bar, the all-day event will feature free food, drinks, music, and giveaways. Pretty standard, if you ask us.
The music lineup starts with Roger Greenidge on steel drums, followed later by Rome in a Day and Emmet Swimming. Participating restos will be dishing up free barbecue, a raw bar and snowcones -- which sounds awesome, until you realize that they will be mashed into one grape-flavored pork rib ceviche ball in your stomach. Sorry, ignore that.
Gossip on 23rd will be hosting a trunk show with all of summer's hottest trends (no grass skirts or coconut bikini tops), and will be giving away free gift certificates and merch. And because it's not a party without alcohol, beer trucks and drink specials will be available all day as well.
So whip out your favorite Tommy Bahama shirt, limbo on down to Crystal City and dance your grass off to some reggae tunes. You'll probably end up with some funny looks on the Metro on your way back home, though.
