    Drink for Charity

It is better to give than to receive and this Valentine’s Day you can test mom’s motto out yourself.

Valentine’s Day for some of us is long awaited and for others of us, the day cannot come and go fast enough. Whatever your take on the day is we can all agree that the day is about giving.

On Thursday, Union Jack’s British Pub in Bethesda will give you the chance to see if giving can actually be better than receiving. They are sponsoring their third benefit for Chris Pointer, a loved and valued employee of theirs who is battling cancer. A voluntary contribution at the door will allow participants a free domestic beer or rail liquor drink, and an opportunity to win one of over $500 in prizes from local businesses.

Chris Pointer, a young, Kensington native and employee of Union Jack’s, has been diagnosed with cancer not once, not twice, but three times. Union Jack’s and its staff, in conjunction with local and national sponsors, are holding this benefit to help ease the burden of accumulating medical expenses Chris has incurred.

This special evening will be filled with lots of love and an opportunity to give a little and get a lot. Join Union Jack’s in putting a different spin on celebrating Valentine’s Day by raising money for a good cause while getting a little something back.
