There's no shortage of opportunities to get down in the coming days. Here are our picks for the best DJ sets, dance nights, and club events for the rest of the week.
WEDNESDAY:
New York's Trouble & Bass crew call themselves the "heavy bass champions of the world," and that title will be tested when they bring their heavy, low-end beats to U Street Music Hall's (1115 U St. N.W.) formidable sound system (10 p.m.). Playing just down the street the same night at the Black Cat (1811 14th St. N.W.) is another New York act, Brooklyn's the Blow, who play pop music infused with buoyant synths and stuttering hip-hop beats (8 p.m.; $15).
THURSDAY:
German producer Tensnake, who's recently made a name for himself stateside with a string of killer remixes (including this epic rework of Azari & III's "Reckless with Your Love") makes his first U.S. appearance at U Street Music Hall (9 p.m.; $10). Local disco-house revivalists Beautiful Swimmers will open for what is sure to be a can't-miss night of effervescent rhythms and lush beats.
WEEKEND:
Two strong DJ nights round out the weekend. First there's Clockwork at the Rock and Roll Hotel (1353 H St. N.W.) on Friday (9:30 p.m.; free), with DJs Ratt Moze and Chris Nitti spinning Baltimore club (house music's grimier first cousin) and electro in the venue's cozier upstairs room. Then the Black Cat throws Work the Walls on Saturday (9:30 p.m.; $5) in its Backstage room with vintage funk and disco that promises to "sweat ya perm out."
