Montgomery County Dog Parks No Longer Free

Starting August 1st, pet owners will have to pay $40.

It seems nothing comes free these days. In Montgomery County, that even means playing with your dog.

Starting Aug. 1, permits will be required for anyone who uses a Montgomery County dog park.  The permit will cost $40 and will be good for one year.  For each additional dog, the cost is $5.

Once a dog owner applies for a permit, they will receive a colored dog tag, which must be attached to their dog's collar. Park Police can fine any pet owner who doesn't have a colored tag.

Dog parks are located in Cabin John Regional Park, Olney Manor Park, Black Hill Regional Park, Ridge Road Recreational Park, and Wheaton Regional Park. More may be built in the future.

To apply for a permit, visit the Montgomery Parks’ Dog Parks web page.  You can print out an application form, and then return it either by mail, by fax, or in person at Parkside Headquarters, located at 9500 Brunett Ave., Silver Spring, MD 20901.
