It's not just the luck of the Irish.
Mackey's Public house, serving thirsty citizens of both D.C. and Arlington, offers those looking for a little taste of Ireland a nice alternative to the traditional way of celebrating happy hour in American surroundings.
The happy hour for both locations runs from Monday through Friday, 4 p.m. - 7 p.m. The D.C. location includes Miller Lite drafts, Bud Light drafts and bottles, and Coors Light bottles are $2.75. Looking for something a bit on the higher end? Sam Adams Lager, Sam Adams Seasonal, Yuengling and Magic Hat #9 are only 75 cents more, for $3.50. If you can't make it for the happy hour, most appetizers are half-off, 8 - 10 p.m., during the week.
The Arlington location focuses more on deals for those hungry for Irish fare after a long day at work. They serve half-priced appetizers throughout the happy hour, and extend their deals until 10 p.m. on Monday and barbecue sandwiches and 10 p.m. Tuesday for burgers.
Mackey's is an Irish bar and restaurant, decorated to give the feeling of being burrowed into one of Dublin's public houses. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with both intimate spaces and more open areas. The dark wood and frosted glass evoke Dublin in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Anyone looking to feel like they've escaped the country without breaking the bank should stop by Mackey's Public House, at least to grab a pint and a bite.
