We love a challenge. Parallel parking, the running of the brides, finding the correct platform at Metro Center during rush hour when crowds are blocking all the brown signs … yeah, we're not gonna shy away from the important things in life. Like the Great Rum Punch Challenge. (Oh come on, you knew it would come down to booze.)
Saturday, April 4, 7 p.m. Gadsby's Tavern (138 N. Royal St., Alexandria) dishes up half a dozen rum punch concoctions from local distilleries and restos. You get to sample 'em all (OK, or do more than "sample") and vote for your fave. General admission tix ($50) include admission, food and drinks all night; VIP tix ($100) include all the above, plus a gift bag. And remember, without schwag, you may as well forget it ever happened.
Gadsby's is an Early American-style tavern with a conveniently corresponding museum of 18th-century antiques. Proceeds from Saturday's event will help fund the museum's endeavors.
