Help Wanted: Get Your Patriotism On!

Dress Code: Red, White & Blue

Here's your chance to be a part of history -- well, sort of.

The National Park Service is looking for volunteers to work the Independence Day Parade on Monday. The volunteers will carry the large character helium balloons, flags, props and banners in the parade.

Anyone 18 or older is welcome to apply, but to carry the character balloons you must weigh at least 115 pounds and be in good physical condition.

The parade route is one mile long on Constitution Avenue. Volunteers are asked to wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes; dress in weather-appropriate attire, and use sunscreen. No sandals or flip-flops are allowed.

If you're interested in volunteering, report to the volunteer tent on the National Mall, located at the intersection of Seventh Street and Madison Drive, at 9:45 a.m. on July 4.

Volunteers must sign a release and will receive a free T-shirt to wear in the parade. You can get more info by calling 610-431-1121 or emailing Awalp6@aol.com.
