Mary J. Blige to Open Silver Spring Fillmore

The queen of hip-hop, Mary J. Blige, will be the first to grace the stage at the new Fillmore venue in Silver Spring, Md., when the venue opens its doors on Sept. 15.

The Fillmore Silver Spring, which seats 2,000 people, will be the sixth Fillmore to open in the U.S.

"This is a chance to create something special for the entire community," said House of Blues CEO Ron Bension. "The Fillmore legacy beginning in the '60s and continuing into the present is the embodiment of an amazing musical experience for fans and artists. We're excited and feel fortunate to have Mary J. Blige as our opening act."

Blige will release her new album, My Life II, The Story Continues, two days before her Fillmore show.

Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. on July 29 and cost $89.50 for general admission floor with a limited amount of VIP tickets available. More details and information may be obtained by visiting www.fillmoresilverspring.com.
