Free Cat Month!

Need a cat? ...OK, you probably don't, technically.

Starting over: Want a cat? Good news: You can get one for free right now. The Washington Humane Society is waiving adoption fees for cats older than two years, throughout June.

The adoption fee is normally $85. That includes spaying/neutering, applicable vaccinations, a microchip and a FIV/FeLV test.

Adoption hours are noon to 7 p.m. every day except Wednesday at 7319 Georgia Ave. N.W. At the 1201 New York Ave. N.E. location, adoption hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday noon to 8 p.m., and weekends noon to 5 p.m. See adoptable fuzzies here and here.

You can always hold back and wait to attend the Jungle June Meow Mixer (Thursday, June 23, 7-9 p.m.) at the WHS Behavior & Learning Center (7315 Georgia Ave. N.W.). You can mingle with adoptables (and refreshments).
