Ready to check out some superb snaps? One of the world’s premier photography festivals, FotoweekDC, begins Friday night.
The festival consists of tons of events around the District at art galleries, museums and embassies, with home base as the Corcoran Gallery of Art.
The Corcoran (500 17th St. N.W.) will host a variety of activities in honor of the festival including Friday's kick-off party, expert portfolio reviews, exhibits featuring winners of the International Photography Awards and more.
In celebration of FotoWeek, the Corcoran will have free admission through the fest's end on Nov. 13. And doors will be open from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday, Nov. 8 and 9, days when the museum is usually closed.
The fest's goal is to demonstrate "the power and range of the photographic medium," says the Corcoran.
