Virginia is for lovers, right? Well, this fall, there might be a lot more of them headed to the Commonwealth.
It isn't just about watching the leaves change colors anymore. The site focuses on romantic trips to wineries, historic inns and picturesque small towns. The organization says it's trying to capitalize on growing interest in romantic getaways for aging baby boomers and Virginia's growing reputation as a wine region -- Virginia now has 160 wineries and 16 wine trails among its attractions.
On the website you can find examples of 48-hour getaways. You'll also find guides to fall festivals, corn mazes, apple picking, scenic drives and mountain biking. A section for family fun will appeal to the "Dora"-aged set that wants to do a little exploring of their own.
The site breaks down suggestions by region, and offerings run from September through October.
