While the combination of alcohol and blunt objects may seem like a bad idea to some, Joe Englert can think of no better recipe for success.
According to DCist, Englert and two other investors are opening up a putt-putt bar and restaurant on H Street. Construction has been under way, and the bar may open as early as the end of the month or the beginning of March.
The bottom floor, or "Locker Room," of the space will be dedicated to pool tables, shuffleboard and Skee-ball. Fake lockers will decorate part of the wall, while the rest of the space will be covered by a long bar with plenty of space in an effort to cut down wait time.
But upstairs is where the real action is. The second story will house the restaurant, and, perhaps most importantly, the putt-putt area. The golf course will consist of nine holes, each one themed around a D.C. landmark, like the Lincoln Memorial or the Washington Monument. Cup-holders are going to be scattered about in every place imaginable, and waitresses will come around to collect drink orders to ensure that eveyone has even more trouble knocking their balls into the hole.
The restaurant will be Mexican themed, and feature both standard Mexican fare, like nachos and quesadillas, along with some classier versions of south-of-the-border staples. Ann Cashion, of Cashion's Eat Place and Johnny's Half Shell, will design the menu.
Look for H Street Country Club on H Street, between 9th and 14th.
