A New Taco Champ's in Town

Fans of District Taco had a chance to truly prove their love for the food-cart-turned-restaurant's fare Monday night in a taco-eating contest.

The true test of the competitors' love? Keep the food down for the duration of the contest.

Yes, "no throw up" was actually a rule listed on District Taco's website. The only other major rule was sticking to the 15-minute time limit.

A raucous crowd cheered at the Arlington restaurant as 10 contestants started unwrapping four of District Taco's popular varieties: tortillas filled with chicken, pork, steak, cheese, pico de gallo, and even the breakfast taco -- egg, cheese, and chorizo.

Fifteen minutes and dozens of tacos later, Andrew Danto emerged as the contest winner. He was crowned with a sombrero after polishing off 15 tacos.

"I really love the tacos here, and I thought I could eat a lot. Turns out I did," Danto said while celebrating his victory. When asked how he was feeling, he replied, "Not very good."

According to District Taco's website, Danto will get his picture posted on the restaurant's Wall of Fame. Parting gifts include District Taco apparel and, if Danto ever feels like it again, free tacos.
