What Could You Do in 48 Hours?

Check out the spoils of the 48-Hour Film Project at AFI Silver Theatre

A genre, a prop, a character and a single line of dialogue. Hey, they've created seven-season sitcoms based on less than that. But in 48 hours?

Yeah, that's all these DIY filmmakers got before being turned loose to create whatever movie their crazy little brains could come up with for the 48-Hour Film Project. Funny thing is, 14 of those movies were selected to screen at the Cannes Film Festival. (We can't even finish watching a Netflix in 48 hours.)

Check out the results of people who need a lot less sleep than we do at AFI Silver Theatre (8633 Colesville Road, Silver Spring). A selection of the films show tonight (7 p.m., $10), or you can hold out for the "Best of" presentation, May 21 (7 and 9:30 p.m., $10). Get tix in advance here.

By the way, since DC's been overrun with film fests this season, we think it's only fair to inform you that Part II of the Korean Film Festival is running this Saturday through June 10. We'll be sure to let you know about the next dozen film festivals shortly.
