Just Get to the Source

Source, a performing arts venue on 14th street celebrates its opening this weekend

Envisioning a space to redevelop theatre arts life in D.C. that was flexible and affordable, the Cultural Development Corporation (CuDC) bought the Source in Oct. 2006. The CuDC then began a 3.5 million dollar Source Campaign for funding to completely revise Source. Flash-forward to Nov. 2008 and after major renovations in the spring of 2008, Source brings you Activate! Activate is a two-day celebration of the grand opening of Source.

On Nov. 22, the Source will be the Red Light Source featuring DJ Neville C, the Washington Improv Theater and Special Agent Galactica. You must be 21 and over to attend and tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door. Red Light Source starts at 10 p.m. and lasts until 2 a.m.

On Nov. 23 the Source is open to all. Participate in improv, slam poetry, playwriting, belly dancing and much more for free.

Even if you don't make it to Source this weekend, check out the venue, which is now available to any area arts organizations and its resident organizations. The comfy space on 14th St. is sure to bring exciting theatrical events in the future.
