Shakespeare Theatre Moves ‘Free For All' Location

Free performances move from Carter Barron to an Sidney Herman Hall

At the end of next summer, The Shakespeare Theatre Company's Free For All will move from its previous location at Carter Barron Amphitheater to Sidney Harman Hall. The new location will provide state-of-the-art capabilities, more performances, and easier metro-access.

The Free For All, allows everyone to enjoy Shakespeare’s shows. Now, the theater will seat even more viewers! The first show that is scheduled to run in the new location is “The Taming of the Shrew,” that will run from September 3 – 20, 2009.

"Free For All attracts people who have never been to the theatre, people who are unable to pay
for tickets or afford a babysitter, young people, students, people on
fixed incomes," said artistic director Steven Kahn. "They all come to experience the magic of Shakespeare, to
see how his words and ideas still resonate with us more than 400 years
later. We hope that by changing venues we will be able to expand and improve this cherished event, while continuing to make free Shakespeare available to as wide of an audience as possible."

So if you want to experience the theater and a little Shakespeare magic, start counting down the days to next summer!

The new theater will be located at the cross-streets of Sixth and F Streets NW, downtown D.C.
