Potenza Brings Taste of Italy to DC

Italian restaurant Potenza is set to open in March in the Woodward Building on H Street, bringing some rustic Italian flavors to D.C. right as temperatures start to warm up.

The restaurant will seat 175, and will include a large separate bar area, a bakery, and a large pizza oven for firing the dough, according to the Washington Business Journal. They'll be serving rustic Italian food, with an emphasis on traditional recipes and quality ingredients. It will be loacted at 1430 H St. Nw, Washington, D.C.

The restaurant comes from Star Restaurant Group, who also brought Zola to the D.C. area. Judging from Zola's success, which received awards from Bon Apetit, Food & Wine and N.Y. Times, Potenza is likely to draw similar accalades.

Named after the Italian grandmother of CEO Dan Mesches, the name Potenza also comes from a town in Southern Italy.
