Lately, a few bloggers have started to worry over/debate/curate the slow fading of the District’s old signs. As storefronts change hands, as strip malls get demolished, residents start scratching their inner Pelecanos and mourning the old-timey signs and neon that once made their block a little more interesting.

The Triangle has a really beautiful shot via Flickr of A.V. Ristorante’s neon. And Prince of Petworth has been at it for some time. He’s done a really good job of finding some gems.

Maybe we started it all with this cover story on fading signs. But damn if the photos weren’t transferred to the web version!

We should start preserving these old signs! The A.V. neon should be in museum.
