Just Don't Forget the Chocolate!

Who would suspect that the small, quaint community of Old Town Fairfax hosts such a grand event as the Chocolate Lovers festival each year. This annual two-day festival is held the first full weekend in February, and chocolate enthusiasts from all over prepare to enjoy this year's events this Saturday and Sunday.

What started as an attempt to draw visitors to Old Town Fairfax, encourage community participation and foster cooperation among the city government, the business community and local residents has become an event where guests who share a similar love interest (Chocolate!) get together and have a good time.

Festival goers have a myriad of activities to chose from including:

  • A Taste of Chocolate, which features chocolate vendors selling their wares
  • Chocolate Challenge, an arts extravaganza where the focus is what else but chocolate
  • Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast, where lovers can indulge in chocolate chip pancakes

The are also activities to keep the kiddies busy while parents obsess over the never-ending flow of the chocolate fountains. Although some events require a fee, most events are free to all visitors.
