It's Memorial Day, so it's time to get into the swing of summer. Well, after you finish that good old barbecue. (And make sure to save us a plate, 'cause we're getting hungry in this office.)
Hit up the 32nd Annual Memorial Day Jazz Festival this Monday from 1-7 p.m. Fort Ward Museum (4301 W Braddock Road, Alexandria, VA) hosts big band, swing music and contemporary jazz.
Schedule of Performances:
1 p.m. - The Jazz Ambassadors of the United States Army (field band) - 1 p.m.
2 p.m. - Barbara Martin Quartet (traditional vocal jazz) - 2 p.m.
3 p.m. - Al Williams (contemporary) - 3 p.m.
4 p.m. - Dixieland Direct (traditional Dixie) - 4 p.m.
5 p.m. - Bruce Swaim Quartet (featuring Lyle Link) - 5 p.m.
And, if you're still hungry (which you probably will be), check out the food and drinks sold on-site. Recession emptying your pockets? Good news: You're allowed to bring your own food, and grill in the park.
