Gala Encourages Enthusiasts to “Indulge” in Art

The Washington Project for the Arts (WPA) hosts its 28th Annual WPA Art Auction Gala to celebrate contemporary works alongside artists, collectors, business leader and contemporaries.

A full evening of festivities is scheduled, including a cocktail reception, a seated 3- course dinner, a silent auction of more than 100 original works of art, and party with multimedia entertainment by X.

This year’s fundraising event “Indulge Your Passion for Art” will take place at the Katzen Arts Center at American University on March 7.

The artists featured hail from the Washington metro area to New York. Guests will also have the opportunity to bid on their favorite works created by the painters, sculptors, illustrators, photographers and street artists during a silent auction.

Notable artists selected for the gala include Washington, DC photographer and sculptor William Christenberry and mixed media artist Renee Rendine of Towson, Md.

The 2009 WPA Art Auction exhibition will be on display through March 7.

Tickets are $300 ($169 tax deduction) per person for the dinner, silent auction, and party.
