Britney Spears Caged

Pop star returns to DC

WASHINGTON -- Following the Greatest Show on Earth over the weekend, pop star Britney Spears brought her "Circus" Tour to D.C. Tuesday night, performing at the Verizon Center.

Since her last tour in 2004, Spears has been married (her second marriage), divorced, had a couple of babies, had her privates paparazzi'd and spread all over the Internet, complained about her lack of privacy, appeared nude on the cover of Harper's Bazaar, and been a regular in rehab.

But the tour seems to be a success.

The Washington Post called it an "over-the-top spectacle" but said Brit "made a compelling case for herself as the current queen of pop performance art."

In attendance was House Republican Whip Eric Cantor, according to Wonkette. His office told Wonkette that he went to the concert with a bipartisan group of lawmakers, including Sen. Mary L, Landrieu, D-La., and other Democrats, but later the office said they could not confirm Landrieu's attendance 100 percent.
