Houston residents and officials are seething over a Texas agency’s decision to not award the city a single cent of the initial $1 billion in federal flood mitigation funding the state was promised following Hurricane Harvey in 2017

The grants are part of the American Rescue Plan. News4’s Cory Smith spoke with local restaurant owners who are grateful but worry it won’t be enough.

There may be fewer metro areas in the U.S. in the near future

Metro officials say they may have to close up to 22 stations next year if the transit agency does not receive another round of federal funding.  Metro is facing a large budget shortfall because of the decrease in ridership caused by the pandemic.
