Prior to joining NBC, Rick worked for six years as Investigative Producer and head of the Special Projects Unit for the FOX affiliate WTTG-TV in Washington, D.C. Previously, he was the Investigative Producer at WCNC-TV in Charlotte, N.C.
Rick began his broadcast career as a producer in his hometown of Columbia, S.C., at WIS-TV after graduating from the University of South Carolina's School of Journalism and Mass Communications.
Rick's investigative work has helped lead to changes in state law, criminal arrests and the termination of public officials. He has been recognized with some of the most prestigious journalism awards, including the national George Foster Peabody, the Alfred I. duPont-Columbia University, Scripps Howard Foundation Jack R. Howard Award, National Headliner Awards along with multiple regional Emmy and Edward R. Murrow awards.
Katie Leslie joined the I-Team as an investigative producer after a nearly 15-year career in newspapers, with a special focus on covering politics and government.
She is a former congressional correspondent for The Dallas Morning News and spent nearly nine years at The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, where she began in features writing before covering national news, Georgia politics and Atlanta City Hall.
She graduated summa cum laude from New York University with degrees in music and journalism.
Prior to joining the I-Team in 2012, Jeff worked for NBC4 as a general assignment photographer and editor, covering breaking news and day of stories as well as many large scale live events. Previously Jeff worked at WBTV-3 Charlotte, and WWBT-12 Richmond in similar roles.
Jeff began his career in television in 2000, in Richmond VA, after graduating from VCU with a BS in electronic media. He started as a part time TV Studio production assistant, and within his first year was in the field shooting video for edited packages and airing microwave live shots.
He says “I’ve always been motivated by compelling video as a means to bring imperative storytelling into the lives of the viewers. Joining the News4 I-team has only furthered that motivation. But any good journalist is only as good as the team around him, and I currently work with the best in the business ”
Since joining the News4 I-Team Jeff has been a part of many stories exposing public officials for wrongdoing, exposing criminal acts, highlighting growing crime trends and seeking compensation for those who have been wronged. The stories have led to the firing of some of those officials, arrest of those breaking the law and even the change in local and state laws. He has been awarded with the Gerald Loeb Award for Outstanding Investigative journalism, The Fourth Estate Award for outstanding achievement in the field of journalism, and numerous AP, Edward R Murrow, and Regional Emmy Awards.
Before joining the I-Team, Steven worked for twelve years as a Special Projects Photographer for the FOX affiliate in Washington, DC. Previously, he was a photographer at WBAL-TV in Baltimore.
Steven has covered international news stories, from the Somalia famine to the Rwandan genocide. Steven also has an extensive background in cinematic productions, from short-films featured at the Americas Film Festival to the HBO mini-series, “The Corner”. Steven has earned several regional Emmys on feature stories and investigative reporting.
