Teen Gets Jail Time for Throwing a Punch

Judge also orders him to pay $2,000 in restitution

And now, giving new meaning to the song, "All I Want for Christmas is My Two Front Teeth," the case of Anthony Nelli vs. Cody Gibbons...

On Friday, a Fairfax Circuit Court judge sentenced 17-year-old Nelli for punching 15-year-old Gibbons and knocking out his front teeth.

Gibbons was walking down a McLean street with three friends in December, 2007, when Nelli approached him and threw the punch.

According to court testimony, Gibbons had just had braces removed after seven years and faces several more years of orthodontic work.

Judge Terrence Ney sentenced Nelli to a month in jail for misdemeanor assault and battery. He also ordered him to pay $2,000 restitution.

A jury convicted Nelli in November of a misdemeanor for punching 15-year-old Cody Gibbons.
