Phony Crosswalk Causes Confusion in Montgomery Co.

Fake walkways painted in Olney, Md.

A freshly painted crosswalk in Montgomery County is creating some confusion for pedestrians and drivers alike, and the main reason: It's not real!

Someone appears to have spray-painted a crosswalk across Route 108 Olney-Laytonsville Road near the entrance to the Olney Shopping Center. There's another crosswalk painted near St. John's Episcopal School, according to The Gazette.

A News4 camera crew witnessed a few people attempting to use the fake crosswalk to get from one side of Route 108 to the other.

Maryland state highway officials told The Gazette they considered it to be graffiti and said it would be removed in the coming days.
