Woman Sues Facebook Over False Profile

A Houston woman filed a $123 million lawsuit contending that Facebook failed to remove a false profile of her created by a former friend who superimposed her face over pornographic images.

Meryem Ali in a revised suit filed this week in district court in Houston claims the former friend then invited Ali's friends and family to visit the profile page. The lawsuit said the "revenge porn" case caused Ali "significant trauma" and "extreme humiliation."

Ali claimed Facebook failed to act on repeated requests over many months to delete the page. The company did eventually remove the page.

The suit said damages being sought represent $0.10 for for each of the 1.23 billion Facebook users.

Facebook media representatives did not immediately comment on the claims.
