As furloughed federal workers across the nation’s capital find themselves with more time on their hands amid the government shutdown, one business seems to be booming: internet porn viewership.
According to the website Pornhub and their statistical team, viewership has risen nearly 6 percent according to their latest numbers when compared to viewership before the shutdown started on Dec. 22.
The site said its numbers show that the largest increases in visits occurred late night, between 10 p.m. and midnight, and during the afternoon around 1 p.m. — times when people are traditionally sleeping since they have work the next day or at work.
Visits to the site from women increased during the time period measured as well, Pornhub said.
