MoCo Interactive Map Shows Snow Plowing Progress

Just in time for the snow, residents in Montgomery County, Md., can now check the progress snow plows are making in clearing roads.

Residents can now go to the county website and view an interactive map to see whether roads in their area have been cleared. The map only shows roads maintained by the county, and not those maintained by the state, which include any road with a number, such as Route 355 Rockville Pike.

Keith Compton, the head of the county's snow removal team, said there are still ways residents can see how the state is doing through the county's online map.

"We have cameras at 190 locations, many of which are on state roads. And we also have a link to the Maryland State Highway Department of Transportation site. So, very easily from our map you can go to the state highway map," Compton said.

Eventually they would like to combine the state's map with the county's, Compton said.
