Terrapins Score Fifth Straight Win

Vasquez, Hayes lead strong defense

COLLEGE PARK -- Maryland cruised to its fifth straight victory Saturday, defeating Bryant 72-51 behind a strong defensive performance and the contributions of backcourt mates Greivis Vasquez and Eric Hayes.

The Terrapins (9-2) forced 19 turnovers, had 14 steals and limited the Bulldogs (1-10) to 33 percent shooting from the floor.

Vasquez went 4-for-8 from 3-point range, scored 19 points and led Maryland with six rebounds. Hayes had 14 points and five assists.

Landon Milbourne scored 13 of his 15 points in the second half for Maryland, which never trailed in improving to 60-5 in non-conference home games since the start of the 2002-03 season.

The Terrapins will play three more at home before starting the Atlantic Coast Conference portion of its schedule on Jan. 10 against Georgia Tech.
