Stephen Strasburg Hits First Career Home Run

The Washington Nationals entered Sunday's Beltway Series finale with the Baltimore Orioles still searching for a victory against their geographical rival. Stephen Strasburg took to the mound looking to correct that, but it did not start as smoothly as he probably would have hoped as the Orioles took an early 3-0 lead.

The Nats battled back, however, tying the game at 3-3 before Jesus Flores gave them the lead thanks to a solo shot. Strasburg followed Flores in the fourth inning and, I must say, there is nothing better than a pitcher helping his own cause:

Strasburg took Wei-Yin Chen to left center field for his first career home run (it traveled 398 feet, which, coincidentally, was the same distance as Flores' shot directly before).

If you want to get something done, I guess you've got to do it yourself.

Strasburg also struck out eight batters to earn the victory in a 9-3 win. Now that's what I call hot stuff.
