Robert Griffin III Making Jersey History

Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III is definitely a trendsetter (there is no need to remind you about the socks at this point, but just in case).

Yet, RG3 is not just making history with his socks anymore. He's also doing so with his jersey.

According to Uni-Watch's Paul Lukas, RG3 will be the first NFL player and the first player across all four North American professional sports (NBA, MLB, NHL) to feature a Roman numeral on the nameplate on the back of his uniform.

The NFL has unveiled a new rule this season allowing generational titles to be worn on jerseys (which means, for example, that Redskins running back Roy Helu, Jr. can add "Jr." to his jersey this season, as well).

Lukas also wonders if the "III" on the back of Griffin's jersey could be used as a marketing ploy. In that case, I'd like to see a Smokehouse BBQ Chicken sandwich from Subway across his back.
