The Washington Redskins will hire former San Francisco 49ers general manager and Seattle Seahawks personnel executive Scot McCloughan as its new general manager, News4's Dianna Russini confirmed.
Current general manager Bruce Allen is expected to remain with the team as president.
I'm told final touches are being made on his contract. #Redskins

McCloughan, 43, is expected to sign a four-year contract by the end of the week.
He is credited for building talented rosters for the 49ers and Seahawks. He spent five years with San Francisco, 2008-2010 as general manager, before joining Seattle in 2010.
He spent the past year away from the NFL but ran a private scouting service, so he should be able to contribute to the Redskins draft picks.
He recently opened up to ESPN about his alcohol abuse, but also his strong desire to get back into the NFL.
