Redskins Lose 27-20 To Lions, Fall To 0-3

Are you panicking yet? Because now might be a good time to panic.

For the first time since 2001, the Redskins have lost their first three games of the season as the Lions left Washington with a victory for the first time ever in a 27-20 win.

I won't bore you with in-depth analysis of another gutwrenching defeat, so let's fast forward to the fourth quarter when the Redskins seemingly took a late fourth-quarter lead on Robert Griffin III's apparent 57-yard touchdown pass to Aldrick Robinson. Robinson, however, did not control the ball and it was overturned by official review.

On their ensuing possession, the Lions responded with a touchdown that did count when Matthew Stafford found Calvin Johnson for an 11-yard catch in the end zone that gave them a 27-17 lead and put the game out of reach.

I'll save you the "RG0-3" jokes -- because unlike the game, I'd like this to be quick and painless -- but here is another unsettling number: 3.1. That is the percentage of teams since 1978 that have qualified for the playoffs after starting the season 0-3. Five out of 161, to be exact.
