• Billionaire Thomas Golisano is having a busy week. First, the Buffalo Sabres owner orchestrated a coup in the New York State Senate; then he confirmed to Page Six that he and tennis great Monica Seles "see each other" after months of public appearances together. He's 67 and thrice-divorced; she's 35 and won Wimbledon in 1992. Neither one has had much luck with fans, historically. [NY Post, via NBC Sports]

• Huzzah! Goalie Ray Emery officially signs a one-year deal with the Philadelphia Flyers, ending his season of KHL reprogramming. His PR staff co-authored comments on the deal are truly inspiring. [Philly.com]

• Brent Sutter makes it clear that if he were to join his brother in Calgary be blessed with the chance to coach another NHL team, that team would need to go through Lou Lamoriello and the New Jersey Devils to hire him. Which should be a pleasant experience. [Sun Media]

• Fire & Ice lists just under 20 candidates for the Devils head coaching job, from Ted Nolan to Jacques Lemaire to Scott Stevens. They also list Mike Keenan, which almost earned a spit take before we read he's got no shot. [Fire & Ice]

• Columnist Bruce Dowbiggin of the Globe & Mail condemns the NHL's injury disclosure policy and lets slip this nugget about Nicklas Lidstrom: "Lidstrom had a damaged testicle from being pitch-forked by Chicago's Patrick Sharp in Game 3 of the Western final. He needed all the time between the cheap shot and Game One of the final to rehab the injury." Bruce continues: "Every day the NHL cloaks itself in the shrouds of subterfuge adds to the perception of the league as out-of-date and fan unfriendly." • Don Brennan unleashes pretty much the most offensive label someone can unleash in relation to the Ottawa Senators, calling Dany Heatley a modern day Alexei Yashin. Ouch. [Off the Posts]

• According to his agent, Sergei Fedorov is being courted by KHL teams but is in discussions about a return to the Washington Capitals. The Caps are also in talks with goalie Brent Johnson. Uh-oh, Theo. [Capitals Insider]

• Today is the deadline for interested parties to table offers for the Montreal Canadiens with owner George Gillett. Dave Stubbs writes: "If I were Uncle George, I'd have put the Habs and the Bell Centre on eBay, with a reserve of maybe $600 million, just to see who'd bid." • You might think we're running this shot from Game 6 to point out the Detroit Red Wings fans engulfed in a sea of Penguins T-shirts. You'd be wrong. We're running it to chastise the Pittsburgh fans who still wear their black jerseys to the game despite marching orders to the contrary. What part of "White Out" don't you understand? There's no karmic significance to you wearing your new-school RBK jersey to Mellon; and even if there were, just wear the T-shirt over the jersey for one night. These are the people who show up to a black tie affair in a polo shirt.
