The NBA is set to resume in exactly 28 days and by the looks of things, New Orleans Pelicans star Zion Williamson is more than ready.
Thursday afternoon, the Pelicans released this photo of Williamson seemingly going through a workout at the team's practice facility (wearing a mask for safety reasons) and he seems to have slimmed down/toned up significantly.
Williamson's weight has always been the topic of conversation in NBA circles -- he's listed at 284 pounds but often rumored to be as heavy as 300 pounds, especially after his return from a torn right lateral meniscus.
Williamson set the league on fire when he finally returned from injury this season, averaging 23.6 points and 6.8 rebounds. He created enough buzz to have the entire basketball world arguing whether or not he should win rookie of the year after only playing 19 games. His competition is the Memphis Grizzlies standout, Ja Morant who's played 59 games while averaging 17.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, 6.9 assists and led his team to the eighth place in the Western Conference.
Washington is set to take on the Pelicans when the season restarts in Orlando on August 7 at 8:00 pm. The Pelicans will be on the second night of a back-to-back game so there is certainly a chance Williamson doesn't see the floor for health and/or reasons.
