The Wizards may not be bringing many players back from last season, but they are returning a few and that includes point guard Raul Neto, who has agreed to a deal to re-sign with Washington.

The Athletic first reported the news on Wednesday night. Neto, 29, is back after a career year in his first season with the team.

After signing as a free agent last offseason, Neto set career-highs in scoring (8.7 ppg), rebounds (2.4 rpg) and field goal percentage (46.8). He helped improve the Wizards defense while playing in a variety of roles, as both a guard and even as a three in small-ball lineups.

Neto started 22 of his 64 games with the team, sometimes playing through injuries. He started three of their five playoff games against the Sixers.

Neto now joins a point guard rotation with Spencer Dinwiddie as the projected starter. Neto is likely to serve in the primary backup role behind him with Aaron Holiday also in the mix. The Wizards have 2020 second round pick Cassius Winston on the roster as well, likely on a two-way contract again for next season.

Neto was one of the Wizards' best moves last offseason, so it's no surprise they wanted to keep him. The only question was whether they were going to be able to afford him.

Exactly how they did, we don't know yet as the terms haven't been released. The Wizards have had a lot of maneuvering to do with the five-team trade they put together in recent days to acquire Dinwiddie, which bumped them up close to the salary cap tax apron.
