Watch Former Capital Richard Panik Score His First Goal With the Red Wings

Watch former Capital Richard Panik score first goal with Red Wings originally appeared on NBC Sports Washington

A few days after fellow former Capital Jakub Vrana found the back of the net for the first time in Detroit, Richard Panik has now also scored for the first time with his new team.

Panik's goal was a pure effort play, crashing the net after a shot attempt and sneaking his stick around the goalie to find the puck sitting in front of the goal, ready to be tapped in.

Panik was traded to the Red Wings from the Capitals ahead of the trade deadline along with Vrana and a couple of high-end NHL Draft picks when Washington acquired Anthony Mantha, who has since scored a goal in all four games with the Caps.

The Caps signed Panik to a four-year deal in free agency ahead of the 2019 season. In his year and a half in Washington, Panik recorded 12 goals and 19 assists in 95 games.

Now, as of Thursday night, he has goal number one in Detroit.
